    Brown V. Board of education
    The supreme court ruled against segergation which made the NAACP angry. Then the NAACP started fighting for segergation more aggresively. They pushed for equality no matter how bad there buildings are. This made a path to today where any race can go to any school.
  • Emmett Till murder

    Emmett Till murder
    Emmet Till was acused of flirting with a girl and was murdered for flirting with her. Apparently he also insulted a girl. He was 14 years old when this happened and was very young.
  • Montgomery bus boycot

    Rosa parks was arrested for sitting 9n the front of the bus and not giving up her seat for a white male.This created a domino effect where more joing the cause of segregated busses. This made the protest a long term one and spread across the country.

    These students where the first Highschool students to integrate. On the first day there was a mob waiting outside and they had to go through the back. Police and Coast gaurd had to protect them through the halls as they would get attacked everytime.

    The freedom riders where a group of peopel who challenged the segregation laws in the south. They would hold signs as they drove through cities. They would be met with mobs of people with weapons

    The childrens crusade was when african american children skipped school and marched through Brimingham Alabama, they where protesting segregation. Then the fire department used the hose to calm them down.
  • March on Washington

    The march on washington was when MLK made his big speech to over 200,000 people this was for civil rights, and the ending of segregation, AA people where tired of having less job opportuniteis and not getting as payed as much as white people.
  • Babtist church bombing

    4 young girls from ages 11-14 where getting ready for a sunday service when a bomb exploded and killed all four of them.This was in Brimingham Alabama. The girls where Denise McNair, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Roberts, and Addie May Collins.20 others where injured in the bombing.
  • Freedom Summer

    Volunteers of Congress of Racial Equality launched a black voter registration drive focusing on Mississippi which has less than 10% of black Americans registered to vote. They met resistance from white poeople the entire time since the start of the Freedom Summer operation.
  • Bloody March

    In Selma Ala a group marched for votingrights in a peaceful protest, but police used violence to stop the march. The march was led by Hosea Williams and John Lewis and they marched 50 miles in Alabama for voting rights of African Americans. The state did not permit this march and tried to controll it peacefuly but that didnt work.
  • Voting Rights Act 1965

    Voting Rights Act 1965
    This act band segregation and wlaw bands for African Americans and they where allowed to vote and register anywhere they please. This was a gateway to more rights for African Americans. President during this time was LBJ and he was the one who annouced this change.
