    Malcolm X
    Malcolm X got arrested at the age of 20 because he got charged with breaking and entering. In prison Malcolm became a member of the Nation Islam, after his parole in 1952 he bacame one of the leaders. For 12 years Malcolm X was the public face of controvelverisal group. Malcolm X went to Islam and on Feburary 1965 Malcolm X was assinated by three group members a less than a year of leaving.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    Montgomery Bus Boycott
    The Montgomery Bus Boycott had a municipal law which required black citizens to ride the back of the city buses. Rosa Parks was arrested in 1955 becasue she refused to give up her seat to a white man. The Montgomery's black community saw the incident as an opportuinty for staging a protest against the city's segreation's law. Martin Luther King and some other people had a meeting on the 3rd and 4th of Decemeber to plan a large scale boycott against the Mongomery city bus lines.

    Rosa Parks
    Rosa Parks was "the first lady of the civil rights" and "the mother of the freedom movement". She was arrested the same day as her birthday which is Feburary 4th. Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a colred section to a white passenger, after the section was filled. Rosa Parks was a secretary of the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP. Rosa Parks had attened Highlander Folk School, a Tenessses center for training activitits for workers.

    Freedom Riders
    THe Freedom Riders are a group of black and white people that took two riding buses across the south promoting asseptance of all people no matter what color. They were attacked in many cities and their buses burned. THe white peopl traveling where harassed by their own for traveling with blacks. It took real courage for them to stand up for what they believed was right.

    I Have a Dream
    Martin Luther King made a sppech about civil rights supporters from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washingition for jobs and freedom, this was a defing moment of the American Civil Rights Movement. The speech was delievered to 250,000 suppoters. Martin Luther King describes his dreams of freedom and equality or land and slavery.
