    Went to the white house and spent 3 weeks working on war plans with the president.

  • General MacArthur

    left the philipines and he said he would return

  • Allies began to attack Japan

    raid on tokyo started on april 18th

  • WAAC

    WAAC became a law. it gave WAAC's official status and salary but few of the benefits granted to male soldiers.

  • American Naval Forces

    The scout planes found a japanese fleet. AMericans sent torpedo planes and dive bombers to the attack.

  • First allied offensive began

    19000 troops stormed Guadacanal in th esolomon islands.

  • German Commander Surrendered

    He surrendered in the Battle of Stalingrad. Two days later his troops surrendered too.

  • King Victor Emmanuel III

    Summoned Mussolini to his palace, took away his power and had him arrested.

  • D-Day

    Eisenhower said to invade germany,

  • soviet troops first to come across the nazi death camps

    SS guards rushed to burn and bury all of their evidence of what they did. but they ran out of time.

    Eight German tank divisions broke through weak american defenses. Hitler thought it would split American and British force and break up the allied supply lines.

    While posing for a portrait in Georgia and died from a stroke.

  • V-E day

    Victory in Europe day. this ended the war in europe.

  • FIghting started to end in japan

    more than 7600 americans died

  • first test of new bomb

    in an empy desert in new mexico it was visible from 180 miles away

  • two atomic bombs

    Truman ordered to drop two atomic bombs on japanese targets
