    The neutrality act of 1939
    The neutrality act of 1939 was made to help the Democracies of Europe. It included a cash and carry provision which allowed belligerent nations to buy goods and arms in the United States if they paid cash and carried the merchandise on their own ships.
  • Tripartite Pact

    Tripartite Pact
    Germany, Italy, and Japan signed the Tripartite Pact and became allies. The Pact made it so that they had to assist each other with all political, economic and military means if attacked by a power not present in the European war.
  • General Hideki Tojo

    General Hideki Tojo
    General Hideki Tojo became Japans prime minister. He was known as "The Razor" for his sharp mind and being focused on military expansion.
  • Lend Lease act

    Lend Lease act
    The lend lease act allowed Roosevelt to sell transfer title to, exchange, lend, lease to any government he wanted in the interest of the defense of the United States. It was an economic declaration of war on Germany
  • Atlantic Charter

    Atlantic Charter
    President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill met secretly on a warship off the coast of Newfoundland.On board the ship they signed the Atlantic Charter A document that endorsed national self-determination and a n international system of general security.

    US Navy Battles German U-boats
    Hitler ordered his German U-boats to attack American ships. The attacks on the American ships angered the Americans and moved us closer to declaring war on Germany.
  • The Bombing on Pearl Harbor

    The Bombing on Pearl Harbor
    The Japanese mission was to eradicate the American naval and air presence in the Pacific with a surprise attack. America suffered 2,500 people being killed, 8 Battleships severly damaged, 3 Destroyers unstable, 3 Light cruisers damaged, and 160 Air crafts destroyed and 128 more damaged.

    The United States declared war the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Roosevelt gave a speech called "Day of Infamy". Right after he gave the speech Congress declared war on Japan in revenge for the attack on Pearl Harbor
  • The Doolittle Raid

    The Doolittle Raid
    The Doolittle Raid was America getting revenge on Japan for the attack on Pearl Harbor. The plan was to attack from the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Hornet but it was detected 800 miles away from the mainland of Japan. So the Doolittle led a force of 16 B-25 Bombers against Tokyo which dropped bombs on the Japanese capital.
  • The Bataan Death March

    The Bataan Death March
    75,000 allied soldiers surrendered. Japanese troops forced the sick and malnourished prisoners of war to march 55 miles to the Bataan Peninsula to a railroad that took them inland where they would march 8 more miles. 7,000 American and Filipino soldiers died during the march.
