    Sacagawea was kiddnapped when she was 12, but she escaped before she cold get sold into slavery. She was going to be sold to a French - Canadian fur trapper, named Toussaint Charbonneau.

    Toussaint Charabonneau was hired as a translator
    Toussaint Charabonnue was hired as a translator for the Lewis and Clark expedition. Since the expedition would be meeting tribes of Native Americans, they needed someone who knew how to speak their language. Tossaint wasn't the best Translator, but he was hired anyway.

    The Lewis and Clark Expedition took off. They headed up the Missouri River. It was only white men and slaves who went on this trip, and because of this, they looked like fierce intruders.

    After five years of fighting, the Spanish were able to win the war. With the Fench as allies, the Spanish outnumbered and overtook the Americans. The Spanish renamed The United States of America as The Spanish America.

    The United States of America becomes part of the Spanish empire. The people were forced to change there way of life and obey the Spanish rules. Those who didn't obey the rules were slaves.
