The sisters arrive in New York. There is a conflict between Mrs.Lockton and the Rebels. Mrs.Lokcton slaps Isabel. Isabel meets Curzon and offers her a deal to spy for the rebels exchange for her freedom.

Isabel hears the plans to bribe the Rebel army and she tells Curzon the plans. The next day the Rebels come in looking for the money hidden the walnut chest but the money has been hidden elsewhere. Mr.Lockton was arrested.

Lockton and other loyalists plan on killing George Washington. She tells Colonel Regan. The plot is made aware of and Lockton flees the city. The sisters are still in bondage.

The Madam sells Ruth of the claim of epilepsy and demon possession. Isabel is enraged and her actions throw her in jail. The letter I, is branded on her cheek for the work insolence.

Isabel hears that the British will free any runaway slave that will join the loyalist cause. She goes to the docks and asks for freedom but because she is owned by loyalists, they refuse.

Isabel is made to work for Lady Seymour.

A fire sets ablaze Lady Seymour's home. Isabel saves her and a painting of her husband. Lady Seymour was left paralyzed on one side.

Curzon joined and rebel away and is captured. Isabel seems him injured while walking into the jail.

Isabel has begun to giving table scraps to the prisoners. After that, she now delivering messages for the captain. The Madam caught word of this and threatened her to stop. She keeps doing it anyways.

A friend of the Madam sees Isabel giving a message to one of the rebels. When she asks for the message, Isabel throws it in the fire. Madam tells her that Ruth is down in Charleston and that she will sell Isabel and kill Ruth.

Madam locks Isabel in a potato bin. She escapes, steals a pass making her a free slave and changing her name to Isabel Gardner. She gets Curzon from jail and they escape by crossing the river to New Jersey.
