Isabel and her sister Ruth are sold to mean Loyalists Anne and Elihu Lockton. They bring her from her home state of Rhode Island to the busy city of New York. There they are overworked slaves for the Locktons.

As the Locktons and the new slaves come off the ship they traveled on, Madam spots men trying to open her chest so she gets very upset and demands they dont touch it. Because of this fit, Isabel's "simple" sister giggled. Madam heard and asked who giggled so Isabel took the blame and Madam slapped her face. Hard.

When Isabel goes to the Tea Pump to get water and she sees Curzon. He asks her to spy on her masters, the Locktons, so he can give information to the Rebels.

Mr. Lockton has friends over to discuss Loyalist matters. Isabel serves the men so she gets to hear the first bits of information. Not only this but Madam Lockton makes Ruth her 'doll'. She also did something to Ruth that made her not speak.

After hearing lots of useful information from the men, Isabel decides to be Cruzon's spy and give him all the information she finds. Also Mr. Lockton gets arrested for the paperwork he had in the chest.

Madam figures out that Ruth has fits and decides to sell her to an unkown master.

War starts and becomes somewhat unsafe to travel the streets.

Isabel discovers that Madam Lockton sold Ruth and she scared Madam with her anger. Madam got so scared she hit Isabel over the head with a painting then later claimed that Isabel attacked her. Isabel tried to escape and run to Colonel Regan but finds out he cannot help her. She attemps climbing out a window to escape but fails. After the court hearing Madam decided she wanted Isabel branded on the cheek with the letter "I" for "Insolence".

Aunt Seymour is in need of Isabel so her Masters send her off to assist her. Even though Aunt Seymour treats Sal with more respect, she has just as much work there as she does at the Locktons.

Lady Seymour's house burns down causing her to become very ill. Although the house burned to the ground, Isabel was able to save Lady Seymour's valuables and also drag both of themselves outside to safety. Because of this Lady Seymour has to stay with the Locktons.

After a battle Cruzon is captured and put into jail. He is really hurt from being shot at and is getting sick from all the sicknesses spreading. Isabel brings leftovers from the Master's dinners to him to share to his fellow prisoners.

Madam Lockton had found out that Isabel had been visiting the prison and she was very clear that she can't visit the jail anymore or else there will be consiquences.

Because of Lady Seymour's house burning down and getting ingured, the doctor says that Lady Seymour doen't have much time to live.

During the night Isabel takes curzon to run away because of their situations. They struggle to get to a boat but eventually sails away. The End!
