    Hooke was the first to see and describe cells. Hook saw these cells while examining slices of cork. These cells reminded Hooke of a monastery. This was how he came up with the name cells.

    Was a Botanist credited with finding the nucleus of plant. cells werent previously thought to have nuclei.
  • Schwann

    Schwann was a botanist that discovered that all plants were made of cells and cell products. concluded that animal cells were round and plant cells were square
  • Schleiden

    Schleiden
    Schleiden was a botanist. He is credited with discovering the importance of a plant cell nucleus. He also found the connection with cell division
  • Virchow

    Virchow
    he was studying pathological anatomy when he found his breakthrough. He concluded that new cells only come from existing cells and that diseased cells only come from healthy cells.
