cell theory scientist

  • Hans Janssen and Zacharias Janssen

    Hans Janssen and Zacharias Janssen
In the 1590's, Zacharias Janssen Invented the compound microscope with help from his father Hans Janssen. this help scientist find more about cells and bacterias that eventually lead to the proof of the cell theory.
  • Jean Baptiste van helmont

    Jean Baptiste van helmont
in 1648 Jean Baptiste van helmont did an experiment of spontaneous generation. His expermine was on mice and his conclution was that mice can be made by placing a dirty shirt or rags in an open pot or barrel containing a few grains of wheat or some wheat bran and in 21 days mice will appear. This made future scentists question and experiment on this recipe.
  • Robert Hooke

    Robert Hooke
in 1663, Robert Hooke looked through a microscope that he made at a dead bark. he saw empty spaces and that once countained life, he called these organisms cells. this is important to the cell theory because the cell theory says that all living things are composed of cells and the discovery of cell is an important key to the cell theory.
  • Francesco Redi

    Francesco Redi
In 1668, francesco did an expermiment to prove that maggots don't come from meat. he got 8 jars and covered 4 with muslim and placed meat in all. the ones without muslims had maggots in them but the one that had didn't. This lead to the rejection of spontaneous generation because it showed one way of how living organisms didn't come from non-living things.
  • Anton van Leeuwenhoek

    Anton van Leeuwenhoek
in 1673, Anton Van Leeuwenhoek discovered single-celled organisms with his own microscope. This showed that organisms are made of cells.
  • Lazzaro Spallanzani

    Lazzaro Spallanzani
in 1776, Lazzaro Spallanzani did an experiment on bacteria in water. he heated the water getting rid of the bacterias in a flask and did the samething to another but left the top open. the one that was closed did not develop more microbes but the one that was open did. this showed that the microbes came from somewhere in the air. this experiment showed one way how spontaneous generation is wrong.
  • Matthias Schleiden

    Matthias Schleiden
in 1838, Matthias Schleiden discovered that all plants are made of different types of cells. this is importants because this is part of the fact that all living things are composed of cells.
  • Theodor Schwann

    Theodor Schwann
In 1839, Theodor Schwann discovered that all animals are made of cells. This is important because this is the other part of the statement that all living things are composed of cells.
  • Rudolf Virchow

    Rudolf Virchow
in 1855, Rudolf Virchow dicovered that all cells are produced from other cells. This is a important because this is a part of the cell theory.
  • Louis Pasteur

    Louis Pasteur
in the 1860's, Louis Pasteur proved that bacteria that spoil soups came from the air, not the soup. this disproofed the spontaneous generation theory.
  • Ernst Ruska

    Ernst Ruska
In 1933, Ernst Ruska build the first Electron microscope. The electron microscope allows people to see cells magnified enough that they can see it with their bare eyes. this showed living things made of cells which proved the cell theory.
  • Rene Dutrochet

    Rene Dutrochet
in 1937, Rene discovered and described Osmois which is a cell that helps plant make respiration. this helped prove the cells theory as an evidence.
