Cell Theory

  • Hooke

    Hooke
Hooke discovered the cell. he did this by looking at a thin slice of cork through a microscope with the power of 50x. Hooke was the first person to make a cell model.
  • Leewenhoek

    Leewenhoek
Leewenhoek discovers single celled organisms or protozoa. He did this by observing fish blood cells with a microscope with the power of 250x. This was huge because he found the smallest form of life in the world
  • Browne

    Browne
Browne discovers that had a nucleus. He came to this conclusion when he was observing cells of Asclepiads and Orchids through a microscope. Browne named the nucleus and his discovery showed later models that all cells had a nucleus.
  • Schleiden

    Schleiden
Schleiden proposed that all plants are made of cells. This was the introduction to cell theory. He proposed this idea by drawing on published information and building on it. He did work with Schwann on cell theory.
  • Schwann

    Schwann
Schwann discovered that all living things (tissue) is made up of cells . This ends up being the base of the cell theory. He worked with Schleiden on Cell Theory. He came to this conclusion by drawing on published information and building on it.
  • Virchow

    Virchow
Virchow endorses cell division and its role in pathology. He discovered that cells silt into two. This showed how the cells multiplied. This was a great step in Cell Theory.
