  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was signed by King George III and didn't allow any English people to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. This made any English people already living there move back to the east. This was made to try to make relationships better with the Native Americans.
  • Sugar Act of 1764

    Sugar Act of 1764
    This act made increased all of the taxes on imported sugar and molasses. This meant that any sugar or molasses that was imported had an increase in price. This act was passed to stop the smuggling of sugar and molasses.
  • Stamp Act

    The stamp act made all printed materials have a tax on them. If it had a certain stamp on it that meant it was taxed. Items that were taxed included: newspapers, pamphlets, bills, legal documents, licenses, almanacs, and dice & playing cards.
  • Quartering Act

    This Act allowed soldiers to stay in peoples homes without permission. They did this because they were running out of room in the barracks. The people in the homes had to give up their beds and take care of the soldiers. They did not get payed.

    The Boston Massacre occurred during the night when a group of people were attacking British soldiers and the soldiers fired their weapons. When the soldiers fired their weapons, they killed 3, wounded 2 others, and injured 6.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Sons of Liberty dumped tea into the Boston Harbor on December 16, 1773. They boarded a ship dressed as Mohawk Indians and dumped around 45 pounds of tea into the harbor. They did this because of the taxing on tea and other items.

    Massachusetts Regulating Act
    This Act banned any meetings that hadn't gained approval by the governor. This meant that any unapproved meetings were illegal. This was made because of the Boston Tea Party.
  • The Boston Port Act

    The Boston Port Act
    The port of Boston closed until the price of the tea that was dumped into the water was recovered. The Capital of Massachusetts was moved to Salem. Marble head was made the port of entry for the colony of Massachusetts.
  • Impartial Administration of Justice Act

    Impartial Administration of Justice Act
    This act let the royal governor of a colony to move a trial to a different colony if they think that people in the trial would be on one persons side. The governor could even move the case to England. Colonists were also mad about this because if the governor thinks that they will lose he can just move the case.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    This act let Catholics living in Quebec have religious freedom. They passed this act to gain the trust of the French speaking part of Quebec. This act meant that Catholics were free to worship their god.
