Iran hostage crisis - ends
After a failed attempt at negotiations, operation eagle claw was launched which failed and resulted in the death of eight American service men and one Iranian civillian. The Algiers Accords were signed in Algeria and the hostages were released into US custody the next day after being held for 444 days. -
