John McCrae was born into a military family. Growing up his dad was in the army and had the same position that he later had, Lieutenant Colonal. He was also born in Guelph, Ontario.

Boulogne-sur-mer France. I think John McCrae is a war hero because of all that he gave up for our freedom. Since he was just 14 years old he started to train for the military, He knew that this is what he wanted to do and he risked his life to achieve his goal. He was a high position in the military which says that he was dedicated to what he was passionate about. John is also a war hero because of all he gave up for canadians.
