    Prior to 1929 val loved baseball. In the 1930's Val Brooks promoted the game of golf.
  • Landscaping

    Not much was done in 1931 except for for mowing and planting trees.
  • Water system

    On July 1st was the first time they used the water system on the course.
  • Open for business!

    On July 2nd Brooks Golf Course was officaly open for business!

    Par
    Gene Sarazen played the course with a 71 and Babe Didrikson with a 76. Gene was an American professional golfer, and Babe achieved outstanding success in golf, basketball and track and field.
  • Clubhouse

    Val built a new frame clubhouse with wide screen porches and even air conditioning!
  • World wide

    Brooks Golf Course was becoming a world wide course! People from all over were coming to Iowa just to golf at this course.
  • Spending the moolah

    Spending the moolah
    The new Elm Brooks Clubhouse was bulit and it cost $350,000.00. It was proclaimed as Mid- Americas finest!
  • Came to an end

    Came to an end
    The Clubhouse lasted until August 5th when it burned to the ground. The fire started around 8:40 p.m. while 250 diners were in the restaurant. No one was injured. It was estimated that the loss was $750,000.00
