Successful Learning
A couple of months into her 5th grade year, Brianna had already completed the math that was intended for her 6th grade year. Her parents and teachers gave her the material she needed to learn the necessary skills and she had a true love for learning. In Erikson's 4th stage, industry vs inferiority, the crisis is between succeeding in leanring necessary skills and gaining a sense of industry, vs failing to learn needed skills and being inferior among ones peers. -
Who am I?
Upon entering high school, Brianna was surrounded by a lot of peer pressure to "party" and be a typical high school student. Instead of succombing to the social peer pressure, Brianna realized her true self would rather focus on swimming, school, and family. In Erikson's 5th stage, identity vs identity confusion, the challenge is being able to find one's true identity, vs developing an identity crisis -
Marriage <3
In her early 20's Brianna met the love of her life and they decided to get married. Brianna had discovered her true self, what was important to her, and where she wanted to go in life. She knew there was a possibilty that this could change once she united in marriage, but was willing to take the risk. In Erikson's sixth stage of Intimacy vs isolation, the crisis is between risking losing yourself in a relationship, or being isolated forever. -
Career Change
After finding out she had advanced to the next rank, Brianna realized that it was more important to her to develop the future Airmen, than to progress her own career. Although she loved the technical aspect of her job, mentoring Airmen was calling her name more. In Erikson's seventh stage generativity vs stagnation, the crisis is between focusing on helping the next generaltion develop or focusing on their own needs and wants, which creates an idle state.
