Everyone is mad, and need to be distracted. Eadlyn's parent stir up a wild plan for Eadlyn.
-
Eadlyn's parents stir up a wild plan for a Selection for her. She is not on board at all, but soon gets revelation that she will have to go through with it.
-
Eadlyn is very against the whole selection. She thinks she does not need a man or anyone to help her. She is very independent and does not need anyone trying to tell her what to do with 'her' country.
-
They finally announce the selection to the public. Invitations go to the eligible young men.
-
Everyone who wanted and was eligible applied to be chosen in the selection process.
-
On The Report (Illea's news station), Eadlyn draws one name out of each bucket with applications from each province. The suitors names are read on the news and pictures are shown. The suitors now begin to prepare to come to the palace along with background checks and all sorts of other security alerts. The preparation process is long and dreadful for suitors, royal family, and the palace workers, but has to be done. In two months, the suitors will show up and rooms have to be ready..
-
After the long preparation process, suitors are finally ready and come to the palace.
-
Within the first few conversations with each suitor, Eadlyn decides who will stay and who will go. The boys have one shot to make a good and lasting impression that Eadlyn will remember enough to choose them.
-
Only one week in, Eadlyn decided to eliminate over half of the suitors. No one had enough time to stand out
-
Eadlyn really needs to distract everyone away from the fact that she just eliminated over half of the suitors in the first week. She comes up with a wild plan with her lifelong friend (that has lived in the palace since birth) and now suitor. She tells the photographers to come and be prepared. Kile and Eadlyn plan a "real" kiss to be photographed. These photos need to be published
in the papers for the plan of distraction to work. -
As Eadlyn makes an 'effort' to meet and fall in love, she starts going on first dates with everyone to please her parents, family, and the public.
-
Jack is a wicked human that somehow slipped through the cracks of the palace. While on a date with Eadlyn, he assaulted her and made her feel very uncomfortable.
-
After the awful date with Jack, Eadlyn was running back to her room. She told the guards to get Jack out of the palace and from anywhere near her. Ahren overheard and came running. He suggested that she 'knock his lights out' but she declined, so Ahren took things into his own hands but punching him so hard to knock him out. He then sent the guards to take him to plane and get him out of sight immediately.
-
At the parade, people are not happy and throw rotten foods at Eadlyn and her suitors
-
Lots of Eadlyn's dates had turned out very badly. One ended with her being humiliated and on the ground. While another one ended with terrible things published in the paper about her.
-
One morning, Ahren did not show up to breakfast, lunch, or dinner. People start to worry and get suspicious.
-
Gavril finally tells King Maxon that Ahren has left to France to elope with the love of his life, Camille.
-
Soon after the news of Ahren eloping in France leaves everyone stunned. Everyone was very upset, but Queen America was especially distraught. She was so upset that she ended up having a heart attack.
-
Through all of the chaos of this book, Eadlyn still does not find a husband. There is no resolution in this book.
-
This book is in a series of five books. These include The Selection, The Elite, The One, The Heir, and The Crown. The Heir is fourth book of which I have read. In the Crown, she may or may not find a husband.
