Day 1
Animal was already slighty deteriorated. The tail is the only part of the body that has started to decay. No bugs are present nor are bugs exposed. Light rain extremely humid. -
Day 2
A few blowflies were visible. The squirrel showed little increase in decomposition.Weather: 67 degrees, mostly cloudy, wind NE 11 mph, 45% humidity -
Day 3
The squirrel had significantly decomposed from the side. The tail is now completely lacking fur and more blowflies were present. Weather: 65˙, slightly windy, 40 % humidity. -
Day 6
Squirrel has started to show deterioration of skin and many patches of fur are missing. The tail has been reduced to bone. There are many blowflies present but no maggots. Weather: 65 degrees F, cloudy, SE 15 mph wind, humidity 92% -
Day 7
Mutiple (1cm) magets covering the under portion of the body. The top of the body still has complete fur and no sign of magets. Left eyeball completely gone. Jaw and metacarpals are beginning to show through the skin where the fur is completely gone. 84 degrees F, partly cloudy, 20% chance of precipitation, S 13mph wind. -
Day 8
The maggots from yesterday have grown to be 2cm in length. There are also mutiple baby maggots that are present. The skull of the squirrel has completely deteriorated. When trying to flip it over the body has become squishy, moist, and heavy. 72 degrees F, cloudy, humidity 80%, and SE wind 17 mph. -
Day 11
Maggots are still present and the small ones from the previous Friday have now grown to be 1.5 cm in size. The entire rib cage is showing and it apperars that everything that was once behind the rib cage is now completely gone. 82 degrees F, partly cloudy, S wind 8mph, humidity 81%, 10% precipitation -
Day 12
The entire skeleton was showing and the skin/fur on the top half was completely decomposed. There were few maggots still left on the body considering most of the meat is now gone (nothing for them to eat). 76 degrees F, cloudy, humidity 79%, SE wind 17mph, 80% chance of rain.
