Applied to the CIA
At this point in the book Lindsay Moran is 21 when she applies to the CIA with dreams and intentions of being a spy. Ever since she was a little girl she has wanted to be affiliated with the CIA and even more so to be an undercover operative traveling the globe. Not only is it her self motivation that pushes her to make it into the CIA but it is also her fathers constant negative remarks about how she will never make it into the CIA that strive her to make it. -
First meeting with CIA
A month after sending her application to the CIA she is invited to a confidential informational meeting in Washington DC. When she arrives in Washington they explain the four primary components of the CIA, she left the meeting that day more excited then ever to try her luck with the CIA and try and get a job as a case officer. -
Government investigations
Since Lindsay had applied to such a top secret agency there were many pre cautions the organization of the CIA took to make sure she was who in fact she said she was and not just someone trying to infiltrate the CIA. Lindsays room mates were getting quite frightened by the government investigators constantly showing up at her place of residence and searching around. This made Lindsay feel like they didnt trust her but then again she thought they didnt trust anyone. -
Cancelled Plans
While Lindsay was considering her future with the CIA she had many doubts in herself that she would ever make it, (possibly because of her fathers remarks as well as her own thoughts) so she cancelled her plans with the CIA. Once her plans were cancelled she then took an opportunity that came up of a "full bright scholarship" that was a chance to go to Bulgaria for a period of 1 year to teach. -
Return to America
Upon Lindsays return to the U.S.A she decided to continue another year of schooling at the university of Harvard for teaching which she enjoyed. -
Return to CIA
After much thought Linsday decided that she desperately wanted to return to the CIA and try her luck once again, she was excited by the thought of living abroad. At the age of 26 she once again sent her resume to the CIA. The agency was quick to respond and again scheduled a meeting with her at a secluded Holiday Inn where she was given the range of work she might be doing as well as put through several backround, screening checks as well as drug tests. -
CIA Headquarters
"Two weeks later i am truly on my way back to the east coast to start my new job at the CIA" the first dasy at CIA headquarters Lindsay is put into a group of other students that will be going through the same program as her. She is told she will be training for a job known as a DO there job is to spot, asses, develop and recruit foreign spies. -
The Farm
Over periods of a few months they were given the basics of their job and trained minimally at CIA headquarters. Once there in class training was done they were taken to CIA training grounds also know as "the farm", where they would be put through harsh physical training, car crash training, parachute training as well as interogation training and learning how to lose and detect a "tail". -
Final training complete
Since all the members at "the farm" were now fully trained, there skills were put to the test with a real life scenario of recruiting one of the members of the CIA who posed as a foreigner. Lindsays target was a large man by the name of Barry. After countless meetings for lunch and dinner with the man she completed her task of recruiting him which he said she had done an outstanding job. She was now an official member of the CIA -
Family and Friends
After many strenous months of training Lindsay had missed her family and friends greatly so she visited with them before she would be going overseas to Macedonia as an undercover CIA operative. -
Washington waiting
When finnished visiting family and friends she was to stay in Washington for a period of roughly two months well receiving Intel and readying for her undercover missions in Macedonia. To kill time she would take Macedonian language lessons as well as join a swim team where she met a man by the name of James who she was very attracted to however Lindsay could not get close to him because she was undercover and about to be leaving the country for a long while. -
Macedonia
Once she arrived in Macedonia her missions started soon after. She met with a man to gain intel on the whereabouts of a Serb Dictator by the name of Slobodan Milosevic, the man proved to know almost nothing about the subject "The CIA was doling out big bucks for info, and the man had obviously come to cash in" lindsay said. This made her a little discouraged but also more motivated to find a much better informant. -
Good Catch
After much work Lindsay acquires a new informant by the name of Jasnin who is close with the Serb Dictators family, Jasnin proves to be of very much use to the CIA, she is praised for her great undercover work. -
Change of focus
After working in Macedonia for a long while and concentrating much of her work to the Serb Dictator the CIA shifted focus to Al Qaeda after the twin towers attack on september 11 2001. This gave Lindsay a renewed dedication to her work and she worked hard to attain information on Al Qaeda. -
Al Qaeda Whereabouts
From Intel Lindsay had received from some Macedonian thugs she had found the whereabouts of 7 Al Qaeda linked operatives and had contacted the authoritys "Police had raided a terrorist cell and eliminated seven Al Qaeda linked operatives". This was a great sucess for the CIA and for Lindsay herself. -
Resignation
After much thought Lindsay decideed to end her career with the CIA and resigned in 2003, she was tired of the agency, had next to no social life, as well as couldnt ever explain to anyone what she was up to for the past few years due to confidentiality and protection of other members in the CIA. -
Happy ever after
After her resignation with the CIA she decided to try and regain a normal life once again. She had met back up with James from the swim team and they got married soon after. She was happy to be traveling the world with her new husband and not using an alias or undercover.
