Nat Turner leads Black Slave revolt
Nat Turner, an American black slave led a group of 60 slaves in an effective a rebellion who the went on a killing spree. They killed the family of Nat Turners owners' family as well as 55 white men women and children before the were sll csught and executed by hangings. -
Niagara Movement (W.E.B DuBois)
This movement was started by WEB Dubois and William Monroe in 1905's. after the very educated and distinguished group was denied admittance to hotels in Buffalo NY. The movement wanted to bring legal change to issues surrounding crime,economics, religion and educations . -

Black Americans set a goal to find outlets for group expression and self-determination in effort of achieving equality and civil rights for black Americans. This movement was one of a more artistic expression of Black Americans. -

Supreme Court Case which the court declared that state laws establishing separate schools for blacks and whites to be unconstitutional. -
Murder of Emmet Till
Young black Emmet Till was kidnapped and beaten until death by two white men for allegedly whistling at a white store owner.His murderers were found not guilty which outraged the public, which also surred the beginningof the CivilRight Movement. -
Civil Rights Movement ( Rosa Parks)
Rosa Parks decided she didn't want to give up her seat to a white person sparking the Civil Rights Movement. This event sparked the bus boycott of 1956. -

A movement started by Huey P Newton and Booby Steele to teach the black community militant self defense against the United States government. -
Rodney King beating
that four white Los Angeles police officers brutally beat Rodney King, an unarmed black man. In 81 seconds of video footage captured on a bystander’s camcorder, police were seen kicking and clubbing King 56 times leading to the first race riots in decades in Los Angeles CA. -
Black Lives Matter Movement (Opel, Patrisse
Started in 2014 as a hash tag after the murder of Trayvon Martin who was hunted and killed because he was black. Today the BLM movement is encouraging black people to support other black businesses by shopping with blacks and banking with blacks. -
Charleston Shooting
Nine people were shot and killed during a Bible study session at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina by white male, 21 year old Dylan Roof, qhich again sparked outrage in the black communities.
