    The French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War helped in the birth of the American Republic because it drained the British treasury. This led to Parliament increasing taxes for colonists to help support the war. Tension between colonists and Britain grew which ultimately led to colonists rebelling and the birth of the American Republic.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence is a document that reflects ideas of the government's obligation to protect the people's natural rights to "life, liberty, and property". It also included ideas about the right to change unjust government's and popular sovereignty. This helped to eventually form the basis for the American Republic. The ideas expressed in the Declaration of Independence impacted the ideas of the federal republic.

    France Provides Support
    France brought the Americans supplies, trained soldiers, and French warships. This alliance also persuaded the Netherlands and Spain to support as well. This all led to the Americans gaining an upper hand on the British. Without the help of France the Americans might have not been able to defeat the British and become independent.

    Treaty of Paris
    American, British, and French diplomats all signed the Treaty of Paris. The treaty ended the war and recognized the independence of the United States of America. This was a crucial event in order for Americans freedom and the birth of the Republic.

    The Constitution becomes supreme law of the land
    The constitution created a federal republic. It divided power between the federal government and the states. The constitution of the United States created the most progressive government of it's day and impacted many other countries throughout the world.
