Carnegie left the railroad and started his own company making railroad bridges from iron

consolidated into the Carnegie Steel Company

Andrew Carnegie consolidated into the Carnegie Steel Company he controlled a quarter of American iron
and steel production.

Andrew Carnegie retired

1901

Two years after he started the Carnegie Steel Company he retired and devoted the rest of his life to his wealth
