Dmitri Ivanovich Korepanov was born in in Igra (Egra) in the family of peasant.

In 1904 he graduated Igra church school. In 1907 he graduated Zura college.Then he studied in Kazan seminary but was fired.

He passed the teacher's exam successfully.

He began teaching in February 1914 in the village of Kulaki, Sarapulsky district.

He was called to the Army sent to Blagoveshchensk. In 1915 he wrote his first tragedy. Also he wrote articles about udmurt people and their language.
