    In Titusville Pennsylvania, George Bissell and Edwin L. Drake drilled on a well especially to produce oil on an Oil Creek

  • Transcontinental Railroad is completed

    Rail line that extended over 1000 miles connecting the South of the US to the West of the US

  • Bell patents the telephone

    Alexander Graham Bell patents the telephone.. He wanted people from farther away to be able to communicate to one another

  • First telephone on White House

    President Hayes has the telephone installed in a room of the mansion.. He thought it was one of the greatest inventions of mankind.

  • Edison perfects incandescent light bulb

    Using a filament of carbonized cotton thread, his first attempt at this design results in a bulb that lasts about 13.5 hours before burning out. He later extends the life of the bulb to 40 hours. Edison changes the world for everyone.

  • Railroad set up standard time zones

    Passengers and freight over the thousands of miles of rail line that covered North America by the 1880s. Since human beings had first begun keeping track of time, they set their clocks to the local movement of the sun.

    Formed largest steel company of the 20th century and forming the industrial world today

  • J.P Morgan forms U.S Steel

    J. P. Morgan and attorney Elbert H. Gary founded U.S. Steel. J.P Morgan was the father of steel and practically ran the steel business and was the wealthiest man in the steel industry.

  • Rockefeller founds standard oil

    John D. Rockefeller founded standard oil with a few other businessmen and practically ran the oil business and put other companies out of business by having the largest supply of standard oil.
