    Alexander Graham Bell patents the telephone.. He wanted people from farther away to be able to communicate to one another
  • First telephone on White House

    President Hayes has the telephone installed in a room of the mansion.. He thought it was one of the greatest inventions of mankind.
  • Edison perfects incandescent light bulb

    Using a filament of carbonized cotton thread, his first attempt at this design results in a bulb that lasts about 13.5 hours before burning out. He later extends the life of the bulb to 40 hours. Edison changes the world for everyone.
