Eloped with John Ross
Betsy elopes with John Ross. At age 17 she meets John Ross at a local upholster, where her dad apprenticed her too. There was a problem with the two of them because John was an Anglican and Betsy was a Quaker, which were two different religions which was against Betsy's religion. So they ended up eloping on Novemeber 21, 1773. -
Attends a Quaker public school
Betsy Ross attends a quaker school that is public. There she learned how to sew and do many other crafts that would have been known during her time in history. After Betsy completed school, her father sent her to a local upholster. -

Betsy joined the "fighting Quakers" after her husband, John Ross, died on Janraury 21,1776. The Fighting Quakers was a group of people who supported the war effort. They did not support the colonists during the revolutionary war. -

George Washington, as you know, is the president during this time who decided that Betsy Ross would sew the American flag. George Ross and Robert Morris were the other congress men appointed at this meeting. -

George Washington, Robert Morris, and George Ross, who were in the congress men who had appointed her, had called upon Betsy Ross to sew the first American flag. Betsy Ross married Joseph Ashburn after the death of John Ross. Joseph is an upholster like her. They were married on June 15,1777. Together they had two children. -

Betsy Ross marries John Claypoole on May 19, 1783. They both have an occupation of upholstery and also, they both were born in Philidalphia. John Claypoole died 19 years before her own death. -
Betsy Ross Dies
Betsy Ross dies at the age of 84 and leaves many inspiring storys about how women can make a change in American History. She spent the last 3 years of her life being blind and living with her daughter, Jane, until she died in her sleep on Janruary 30,1836.
