    John was killed by a gunpowder explosion in the American Revolution. He was on malitia duty when this happened. Betsy strill kep her buisiness, though.

    Betsy Ross's buisiness was very successful at the time. And as ledgend has it, George Washington asked her to create the first American Flag. This contributes very much to our own history, and I believe Geroge Washington picked the right person. Ledgend also had it that Betsy Ross was the one to come up with the name, "United States of America."

    Betsy was so talented at her job, that she even helped out with the war by making supplies. These supplies were tents, chairs and cots. This may have not had a very large impact on many soldiers, but she inspired women to help out as well.

    Betsy gets married to John Claypoole. She convinces him to stop sailing and join her upholstery buisiness. John eventually died of sickness of many years.

    Betsy Ross's buisiness got so big that even the government wanted to buy a lot of her things. These things were drapes, couches, chairs, and more.

    A new war arised called the war of 1812. This was yet another war with Britain. The United States wanted more flags by Ross and this is also another contribution to the history of America.

    Betsy marries Joseph Ashburn. They called themselves "free quakers." They were big supporters of the cause of religious freedom.

    The couple supports the war with their money. All in all, Betsy Ross always supported the war however she could. This is a huge contibution to American History.
  • Life Acheivements

    All in all, Betsy lived to see the Flag Act, in 1818, that limited the stripes to 13 on the flag, but when a state is added, a star is added. She was also one out of two "Free Quakers' left. So, Betsy Ross will always be remembered as a Quaker and flagmaker.
