The warriors celebrating in Herot angers Grendel. Grendel attacks at night, killing warriors left and right. He scares the warriors out of Herot and they dont return until later.

Determined to kill Grendel, Beowulf leaves his home along with some men, to help the Danes recapture their hall of Herot.

Grendel arrives to terrorize Herot again. He called one warrior until he tried to take the life of Beowulf, but fails as Beowulf rips off his arm during the fight, leading Grendel back to his swamp to slowly die.

Hrothgar was very thankful for Beowulf's victory over Grendel. So thankful, that he gives him plenty of tresure and a feast in his honor.

Grendel's Mther is furious about the defeat of her son and wants to get revenge. One night she comes to Herot killing Hrothgar's best advisor man. She tries to escape but Beowulf beheads her underwater in her murky swamp with his sword.

Beowulf had to leave and go back to his homeland after the defeat of Grendel and his Mother. Hrothgar was extremely sad to see him leave but gives him his biggest thanks for restoring peace in Herot.

When Beowulf returns, Hygelac dies and so does his son soon after, leaving the throne in front of Beowulf to lead.

Beowulf still the king, senses that he will die soon. He decides to try to defeat the dragon that is destroying Geatland before it gets out of hand.

As he was trying to kill the dragon (with Wiglaf), the dragon bites him on the neck. But Beowulf still managed to stab the dragon with his dagger making the ultimate sacrifice to keep the Geats safe and secure.

Beowulf was burned then buried with the treasure he died trying to protect. Their honor his death every year in memorial of their greatest ruler.
