    The first fleet was a fleet of 11 ships lead by captain Arthur phillip that departed from portsmouth england on 13th of may 1787.A fleet to bring 1,400 people and supplies to establish a colony in sydney. The fleet was made up of convicted criminals, naval officers, marine minders and some of their family members.They arrived in botany bay nsw on 18th of january 1788. This area was deemed unsuitable for settlement so they moved north arriving at port jackson on 26th of january 1788.

    Gold fever hit victoria following the discoveries in ballarat ,clunes and warrandyte in 1851. But the real gold rush started with the discovery of mt alexander goldfield 60 kilometres north-east of ballarat . Mt alexander was one of the richest goldfields around four million ounces of gold, which was found in the first two years of the rush and within five metres of the surface. 500,000 australians,europeans and chinese rushed to victoria to get a piece of this fortune.

    On 1 December 1854, miners, disgruntled with the way the colonial government had been administering the goldfields, built a stockade at the Eureka diggings near Ballarat, Victoria and swore allegiance to the Southern Cross flag.Early on the morning of Sunday 3 December, when the stockade was only lightly guarded, government troops attacked. Twenty-two diggers and five soldiers were killed.

    the first olympics was in Greece,athens the ancient games are believed to have originated in 776B.C.where athletes competed in one event:a foot race.Over the years, other events were added, including chariot racing,boxing,wrestling and the pentathlon.Participants, who were all young men from Greek city-states and colonies,often battled it out in the buff,a way to celebrate the human body, and winners received olive branches.The last ancient Olympics are thought to have taken place in A.D.393

Two hours later it sunk into the ocean. Killing more than 1,500 passengers and crew. The titanic is the most tragic ship sinking and is known all over the world and the story has been told through various books and movies.
