    On this day the Dow Jones Industrial Average reached its high point at 381.17. Earlier that year there w as a tiny little crash but now the speculation was almost gone and there was talk of a permanent plateau. But two days later , prices fell again.

    The stock lost 11% of it's value right when it opened. People rushed to sell their stocks but the problem was, no one wanted to buy. It made investors nervous and a group had gathered around the New York Stock Exchange. Finally, in the afternoon, the panic went away because of group of bankers got together some money and invested. This reassured everyone.
