  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    The Battle of Bunker Hill took place on June 17, 1775. The battle was won by the Brtish, who were commanded by General Howe. The American general was General Israel Putnam. Although the British won the battle, they suffered more casualties than the Americans. This caused the British to review their battle strategies, and realise their reputation was not enough. The Americans viewed this battle as an example of American solidarity and fortitude.

    The Battle of Long Island took place on August 27, 1776. The American general was George Washingtn, and the British general was General Howe. The battle was a loss for the Americans, as they retreated, which let the British win the battle and take New York. They also gained the hudson river, which gave them direct access to Canada. The British defeated the Americans by surrounding them through the Jamaica Pass, which Washington had left undefended; a flaw that cost them the battle.
  • Battle of Trenton

    Battle of Trenton
    The infamous Battle of Trenton took place on december 26, 1776 between George Washington with the American troops and Hessian mercenaries. The Americans crossed the delaware to attck Hessian mercaneries staioned in Trenton, New Jersey. Under a cloak of darkness, the americans attacked the hessians, killing 100 and capturing 918. This battle raised morale in the American soldiers,and Washington crossing the delaware became an iconic image in the Revolution.

    Battle of Brandywine
    The Battle of Brandywine took place on septmeber 11, 1777. it took place between General George Washington and General Howe. General Howe went into battle knowing more about the geogrpahy than Washington, and used to his adbvantage. He defeated the Americans once again. After forcing the Americans to retreat, General Howe marched on to Philidelphia. Howe hoped this battle would be the battle to kill George Washington, but this never occured.

    The Battles of Saratoga between September 19 and October 7 during 1777. The American general was Horatio Gates, and the British General was John Burgoyne. The Americans won this battle, after the British surrendered. This battle greatly raised American spirits, as they had lost amny battles. Also, France and Spain declared war on Britain, to support the American war effort.
  • Battle of Monmouth

    Battle of Monmouth
    The Battle of Monmouth took place on June 28, 1778. The Generals of the battle were General George Washing, an American, and General Cornwallis, commanding the British. The battle is considered to have no victor. During the battle, General Lee retreated. This infuriated George Washington, who relieved him of command. One famous woman, who took part in the battle, was Molly Pitcher. She took her husband's place in the battle, launching a cannon after he was shot.

    The Capture of Savannah
    The Capture of Savannah took place on December 29, 1778, and was won by the British. The American general was Howe, and the British commander was Archibald Campbell. General Howe tried to defend the city of SAvannah from a British invasion, but failed becaus of the enemie's power and size. When Howe and his men fired on the British, they marched on toward the Americans. The Americans retreated, and ultimately surrendered. With the British controlling Savannah, they would raid southern cities.

    The Battle of Cowpens took place on January 17,1781. Leading the British was Tarleton ,and Daniel Morgan led the Americans. It was a key victory for the Americans. This battle helped turn the tide in the south. The British had been recapturing citites like Savannah. Morgan led the Ameicans into battle, and his strategy was to have the British be unabe to escape. As the battle began, the Americans marched on to the British, forcing them to surrender. This battle demonized the British in the south
  • Battle of Guilford Courthouse

    Battle of Guilford Courthouse
    The Battle of Guilford Courthouse happened on March 15, 1781. Cornwallis led the Britsh, agaisnt Nathaniel Greene, who led the Americans. The English won, but it was hardly considered a victory. There were more English casualties, but many Americans were missing. Many British considered this viictory as a loss. They lost a quarter of their men, and the Americans captured 26 British men. The Americans used the same tactics in th Battle of Cowpens, but lost this time.

    This battle was the final battle of the Revolutionary War. It forced the Britsh to surrender, and the United States won the war and gained independence. It was a forty day siege on the British by the French amry andnavy and the American army. The French and Americans repeatedly attacked the Brtish, until their surrender. The Americans won the war, and the British officialy lost the war
