    At this time Japan sends two ships. One to attack Port Moresby and another aimed for Tolagi

    American naval carrier task force attacks and sinks the Japanese carrier Shoho.

  • The First Attack

    Japan's carrier Shoho is sunk in a suprise attack from the Americans.

  • The Battle Has Not Begun

    On this day the first attack is all the fighting that is done. The Japanese do not retaliate until the next day.

    This is the point that the fighting actually took place.

  • The Battle Ends

    The battle has now ended with a total of 1,543+ casualties.

  • The Consequences

    The Japanese ended up facing the resources lost in this batter for months to come within most of their other battles

  • The Fight Begins

    The Japanese use airplanes on the Americans which damages both USN carriers.

  • Status Update

    At this point all ships have been slightly damaged, Japan getting the worst of it.

    This is Japans first loss. It happens when their ship is so badly damaged they must flee.
