Bas Van Fraassen challenged the outlook on scientific studies, seeing to that theories and the research with it cannot be the true answer and Van Fraassen became popular due to his Empiricist look as a philosopher.
-
Van Frasseen empiricism outlook on science was that science would give us the true answer of any theory but at the same time we must also have to believe that theory to be true. Empiricism would need the literal truth of a theory other then science saying that everything that is researched is correct and nothing can challenge that.
-
Some scientist and philosophers have argued that scientific theories are constantly observed and tested on to ensure that the theory is true and there would be no need of constructive empiricism. Empiricism believes that with all the research of one theory, why choose one theory to be correct? and that would make the theory irrational.
-
Hilary Putnam challenged the constructive empiricist with a good argument stating that if the theories of science should not be the only proof of a true answer then why is the theories always correct?. Van Frassen countered with that Empiricism will latch on theories that are naturally true but true science should not need multiple of theories to prove one idea correct.
