April 18, 1942 United States Doolittle Raiders performed the biggest air raid in history. Sixteen B-25B bombers were launched from the USS Hornet without fighter escort and they went to Tokyo, Japan to bomb their city.

300,000 pilots were trained all the way up into 1944 and these pilots were trained by the U.S. Army
