    Japan attacks China in 1937, in a moment in which the Japanese empire was being built. Many countries members of the League of Nations criticize the action of Japan. This conflict formed part of the Second Sino-Japanese War, which was a military conflict fought primarily between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan from July 7, 1937, to September 2, 1945. It began with the Marco Polo Bridge Incident in 1937 in which a dispute between Japanese and Chinese troops escalated into a battle.

    The Attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Territory, on the morning of December 7, 1941. The attack, also known as the Battle of Pearl Harbor, led to the United States' formal entry into World War II. The Japanese military leadership referred to the attack as the Hawaii Operation and Operation AI, and as Operation Z during its planning.

The Senate voted 82-0 immediately after the speech to approve the declaration and the House followed suit shortly thereafter on a 388-1 vote
