    McLaren MP4/4

The McLaren MP4/4 was one of the most dominant F1 cars ever, winning 15/16 races in the season. One thing that gave them a developmental advantage was their monocoque design being a different shape that allowed for more changes to be made around it, which led to a more stable torsional stiffness. The Honda power unit that was developed for this car was also very powerful and very reliable. Overall the car was very well rounded which helped counter other innovations from competitors.

    Williams FW14B

The Williams FW14B was a slightly more advanced version of the years previous car. They had made advances in their semi-automatic gearbox that allowed for multiple shifts quickly and stop engine over-revs. They also introduced their active suspension innovation, which would adjust the front and rear ride heights to get the maximum aerodynamic effect in each corner of a track and maximize speed. This, along with their extremely reliably power unit, propelled them to both championships.

    Ferrari F2002

The Ferrari F2002 was initially delayed at the beginning of the season due to some more development being done to the design, which payed off big time for them when they were winning almost every race for the season. The car was lighter than its predecessor and had more advanced aerodynamics than any other car on the grid. The lower center of gravity allowed the car to go faster and the car was then very easy for both drivers to control.

    Ferrari F2008

The Ferrari F2008 was a very good car, that was somehow only able to manage a constructors championship victory and not the drivers' title. One reason this car was so innovative was the "s-shaped" duct on the front wing which gave it an aerodynamic advantage which took some airflow and redirected it to a less sensitive area of the car that could handle it better, and make the car faster.

    Mercedes-AMG F1 W11 EQ Performance

The Mercedes W11 can be argued as one of the best/most dominant race cars of all time, but due to covid we never saw the potential of it across a full season. One this that made the car so good was a system called DAS, which changes the alignment of the front wheels to optimize performance in each corner. This was banned during the season because it was very expensive to implement into other designs, which was deemed as an unfair advantage that was taken away in the final few rounds.

    RedBull RB19

Even though we are only through 5 races of the season as of the creation of this timeline, the RB19 has won all five of them, and by good margin. 4/5 races have been a 1-2 finish for the team and they are on more than double the amount of points than the second place team. One reason the RB19 is so good is its aerodynamic efficiency, which helps them massively on the straights. Their design is also good at keeping the tires within the optimal window of performance to maximize results.
