    This proclamation made it against the law to settle west of the appalchian mountains.

    First direct tax on American colonies. This was an outrage to many Americans.

    Last attempt to resolve conflict between America and Engand peacefully.

    This document declared the US independence from Britain.

  • Battle of Saratoga

    This was the turning point in the war for the Americans. This also allowed France to side with the USA.

  • Battle of Yorktown

  • Cottin Gin Invented

    The cotton gin was invented in this year and it increased slavery in the south.

    This moves the capital location from Philadelphia to D.C.

  • Lousianna Purchase

  • War of 1812

    This war broke out due to the impressment of American sailors. This solidified America as its own country.

  • War of 1812 End

    This ended the war of 1812 and returned America to status quo ante bellum.

  • Missouri Compromise

    This allowed Missouri to enter as a slave state and Maine as a free one. It drew a line down the US and made each side get equal votes.

  • Nat Turner Rebellion
