Began over disputes of Britain wanting more of North America and the French claiming they owned that side of North America. In 1763 the British officially won when the Treaty of Paris was signed. This gave the British the Frenchs land. Ending of the seven years war.

The first tax that the British put onto goods going to the colonies. Known for the tax specifically on sugar but included other British items as well. The British started the tax to try and stop the colonies from getting cheaper sugar items that aren’t from Britain.

Because the British had gone into a large debt from the French Indian war, they wanted to gain back their money. By giving the colonists an extra tax on British goods. The colonist were unhappy with the high taxes. They thought they were being tax without representation because they did not get to vote for their representatives.

The intolerable acts were passed and enforced in the colonies. The act included, paying back money lost from Boston tea party. Colony couldn’t govern themselves and had to follow British governor. Forced to house British troops in their houses if asked to. Had to follow French Canadian court system and try every British leader in England.

An official document signed 1776 stating that America was separate from Britain. Made by Tomas Jefferson and included many ideas from John Locke.

Battle when British finally surrender to Americans. Americans trapped Cornwallis’s army leading to the surrender. Although the British didn’t sign an argument right away it was the battle the ending the fighting in the American revolution.

Although the fighting had already stopped it wasn’t until 1783 when the British signed the Treaty of Paris recognized America has an separate country. Ben Franklin helped represent the U.S and negotiate an agreement.

Finalized in 1787, was a written document organizing the power in our government. Had a very weak central government and stronger independent government. Giving less power to central government lead to poorer economy. Included one legislator, and only gave congress ability to end arguments between states and start war.
