  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts
    A trade law passed by the British Parliament. It forbid colonists to sell their valuable products to any country other than Britain. These acts also forced the British to pay taxes on French and Dutch goods that had been imported.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    This war was fought in North America between the Britiish and the French. The French had Native Americans help them in the war, hence the name French and Indian War. The war ended in 1763. The British won and were able to take almost all the French land in North America.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The colonists were forced to pay taxes on all printed materialand when they did they would get a stamp. The stamp was to be sure the people had paid their taxes. If someone didn't have a stamp. This time is when we hear about "NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION"
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Colonists were being taxed alot for British tea, so they came up with a plan. Enraged colonists sneaked onto British ships at night and threw all their stupid overpriced (and overtaxed) tea into the Boston Harbor! As a result George III had the British navy close Boston port.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    The congress was made to protest the blocking of Boston port. The king dodn't pay attention to them.
  • Battle of Lexington

    Battle of Lexington
    The 2nd Continental Cogress advised they go to war and the American Revolution began.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Second Continental Congress issued the document. The Declaration was written by thomas Jefferson.

    The 2nd Continental Congress wrote the Declaration of Independence.

    The French decided to help the Americans in the war.
