The Intolerable Acts were first passed on June 2,1774. It was a series of laws that King George lll and the Parliament passed.It was enforced after the Boston Tea Party. One law stopped the harbor till all the money was paid back. To protest these taxes a group called Sons of Liberty used violence to protest. -

Lexington and Concord was on April 19,1775. General Gage sent 700 soldiers to arrest Patriot leaders and get weapons. Minutemen were waiting on them and armed. 8 patriot men lost their lives. Concord was where General Gage heard they were storing weapons. The first shot was known to mark a new beginning of war between England and their colonies. -

The Battle of Bunker Hill happened on June 17,1775. It was the first big battle of the Revolutionary War. It was a very important place because of the canons that could be fired. Colonial Militia ran out of ammunition and had to retreat. Colonial Militia lost the battle but it gave them confidence to fight the British. -

The Battle of Saratoga happened on September 19,1777. Patriot Ben Franklin was sent to Paris to ask the French to join the colonist. The battle took place in Saratoga, New York. It was called the "turning point of the war".The French could actually beat the British. After the French became and ally for the colonies and helped them fight for independence. Benedict Arnold was the hero of the battle. General John Burgoyne surrenders 5,000 British and Hessian Troops. -
Valley Forge happened on December 19,1777. It was a great turning point for the American Revolutionary War. George Washington got help from Friedrich Wilhelm Baron von Steuben. They turned the Continental Army into a great force and they became capable of beating the British.

The Battle of Monmouth happened on June 28,1778. The Continental Army fought for the first time since getting confidence. Many people saw it as a tactical draw. Molly Pitcher was a hero, a women who carried water to the soldiers. After Molly Pitchers husband died she took his spot in the army. -
Battle of Yorktown happened on September 28,1781 till October 19,1781. It was fought in Yorktown, Virginia. General Washington and the Continental Army fought in this war and defeated the British troops. The British troops were led by General Cornwallis. The British troops ended up becoming trapped and had to surrender.
