  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Colonel Smith, Major Pitcairne, and Lord Percy commanded the British Troops. Militia were commanded by Barrett, Buttrick, Robinson and many others. The strategic importance of this battle is that the British were ordered to destroy the Patriots' weapons cache which would limit their supplies, but the Patriots won due to their soldiers who shot the British from behind.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    The Patriots' commanding officers were Ethan Allen and Colonel Benedict Arnold. The British commanding officer was William Delaplace. The strategic advantage was that the Green Mountain Boys surprised the sleeping British troops.

    The Patriots were commanded by Colonel William Prescott. The British were commanded by Major General William Howe and General Robert Pigot. The strategic advantage was in favor of the British due to their numbers which overwhelmed the Patriots.

    William Campbell was the leading officer for the Patriots' militia. Patrick Furguson led the British/Loyalist militia. The strategic advantage was when Furguson retreated to South Carolina but the Patriots catching up to him.

    General Washington commanded the Americans, Lieutenant General de Rochambeau commanded the French and Major General Lord Cornwallis commanded the British. The Patriot-French force completely overwhelmed the British with a combined 16,600 in their army, the strategic advantage clearly goes to the Patriots.
