    The British were trying to find the militia's stores of arms and ammunition. Paul Revere and William Dawes warned the Militia that the British troops were coming. 79 militia met 1,000 British troops. 8 militia were killed. This was the first battle in the American Revolution.

    The American's were low on ammunition. William Prescott ordered the soldiers not to fire until you see the white of their eyes. The British retreated 3 times. Then the American's ran out of gunpowder. The battle was a British victory.

    The American's were determined to fight. The British badly out numbered them. The American's fought hard. They couldn't bet the larger and British army though. Washington retreated and the British let him go.

    The patriots struggled through the winter. The British scatted their troops for winter. Washington thought that they could surprise them. They camped in Pennsylvania. Then in the night they went across the river. They scattered the British troops.

    The American's surrounded General Burgoyne. He made an attack. He failed to get out. The American's stood firm there until the surrendered. The British plan failed.

    Washington led the Patriots against the British. They soon both were exhausted. Many were wounded or died from the heat. Washington's horse died in the heat. The British escaped. The Patriots called this a victory.

    The American's went into a new position. The British Commander thought that that is was a rout. What they ran into though was people shooting them. The commander escaped but the American's killed his army. That was an American victory.

    American troops surrounded Yorktown. The British couldn't get in or out. The British sat helplessly. The American's blocked all escape routes and ship routes. So they could make the British surrender. Eventually they made the British surrender.
