On April 18, 1775, British forces left Boston to destroy weapons in Concord. The next day, militia at Lexington tried to stop the British army unsuccessfully. Militia at Concord defeated British sources who also suffered great losses on the way back to Boston.

Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen's Green Mountain Boys joined forces and and took the British own fort. The Patriots won easily.
