French and Indian War
France and Britain fought over control of North America. Britain defeated France in the war and then later on, took over the land east of the Mississippi River. Britain gave most of the property west of the Appalachians for Native Americans. After the War, the colonists received new British taxes and tighter british control which led to numerous colonists being defiant.
