Telephone
Innocenzo Manzetti, Antonio Meucci, Johann Philipp Reis, Elisha Gray, Alexander Graham Bell, and Thomas Edison, among others, have all been credited with pioneering work on the telephone. When the telephone was created Alexander Graham Bell's wife couldn't join in with the celebration for this device because she was deaf. It is now an everyday device that is everywhere you look and is known for having taken the spot of sending mail every time someone wanted to talk to someone far away from them. -
First Internal Combustion Car
In 1807 Nicéphore Niépce and his brother Claude probably created the world's first internal combustion engine (ICE) which they called a Pyréolophoreand they put it on a boat on the river Saone in France. And in the same year the Swiss inventor François Isaac de Rivaz designed his own ICE and made the first vehicle with an ICE. And in 1879 Karl Benz designed his first engine and in 1885 he built the Motorwagon, which was the first ICE "car" to be made. -
the first automobile manufacturing company in America was made
Charles and Frank Duryea founded the 1st American automobile manufacturing company. In 1902, Ransom E. Olds dominated auto productions. This company allowed the Americans to buy cheaper cars from America instead of from another country. They were originally made for the rich people to have fun with but after the Baby Boom happened almost everyone would have a car. -
Radio
The radio had gained the names "The Wireless Telephone" and the "Wireless Telegraph" only to gain some patents on November 22, 1904. On Christmas Eve 1906, Reginald Fessenden used a synchronous rotary-spark transmitter for the first radio program broadcast, from Ocean Bluff-Brant Rock, Massachusetts. By the end of 1930's radios established commercial modes and started becoming a common household item. -

The Great Migration
Durring this trime over 2 million African Americans moved from the South to the Northeast, West and Midwest. They moved from the country to the city to get industrial jobs. In a way when the black population in the States left the South and spred all over the States they sort of evened out the population in America. -
18th Amendment
This amendment prohibited the transport, production, or sale of alcohol. It was made in hopes of decreasing crime only to increased it instead. It was ended in 1933 when a new amendment made by president Franklin D. Roosevelt passed. -

Prohibition
Prohibition was a ban on alcohol started by the 18th amendment and ending with the 21st amendment. Because of the ban on alcohol organized crime started to become more popular. And because organized crime was popular that led to having more gangs, which in turn led to Al Capone climbing to the top and planning the Valentines Day Massacre in order to get rid of competition. -
19 Amendment
This amendment was made to give women the right to vote. It was proposed in 1919 but made in 1920. It was first drafted by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton in 1878 but didn't get to Congress until 1919. The fight for this amendment started with the women's suffrage movement that had started after the Civle War durring the Reconstruction Era. -
Emergency Quota Act
This was a temporary act to limit immigration to the United States and allowed enough imigrants to equal up to 3%of the States entire population into the United States. It was made because the population in the United States was scared that the immigrants would take the stuff that the population had. Later the Immigration Act of 1924 was made to add to the strictness of this Act. -
Imigration Act of 1924
This Act is also known as the Johnson-Reed Act and it was made to limit the immigration quota into the United States to 2% of the States population. This Act was the American immigration policy until the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 was made and took the place of the Imigration Act of 1924. In a way this Act was made to strangthen the Emergency Quota Act. -

Hoover Dam constructed
The Hoover Dam was made to get electricety to Las Vagas and was finished on July 7, 1930 and took 5 years to make. The dam was named after the 31st president Herbert Hoover. It was started as one of the public work projects by Herbert Hoover in the hopes of avoiding the Great Depression. -
Television
Mechanical TV was introduced to the US in 1928. The TV is now an every day device that most homes have and use on a daily bases. And it started becoming famous thanks to the Baby Boom. -

The Great Depression started with the stock prices starting to fall around September 4, 1929 but was offically started when the Stock Market crashed. It distroyed many economies all over the world. -
Black Thursday
This is the first day the stock market started to go down, and it kept going down until it crashed on Tuesday. This is thought of as the start of the Great Depression and happens when Herbert Hoover was in the Presidents seat. Countless people lost all there money thanks to the events that followed this one. -

Wall Street crashed with the largest percentage drop in the stock market ever. It is known for being the beginning of the Great Depression. It is thought that speculative buying was the major reason as to why this event happened. -

Franklin D. Roosevelt elected
Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32 President and he took office during the Great Depression in March 1933 and became known for many different things he did. One of the things he was known for was the New Deal, which was a bunch of groups made to bring the US out of the Great Depression, and for bringing the US into WWII after Pearl Harbor was attacked. Franklin is also well known as FDR and for being in the 2nd group of presidents that were relatives. -
21st Amendment
Congress had formally proposed the repeal of Prohibition on February 20, 1933 but it wasn't offical until this Amendment was made. This Amendment cancelled the 18th amendment and ended Prohibition and is concidered unique among the 27 Amendments of the U.S. Constitution for being the only one to repeal a previous Amendment. And it wasn't proposed until after the Valentines Day Massacre happened due to the Prohibition. -
Computer
The 1st computer invented. It has become a common household item since the early 21st century. Now the computer has become an every day divice that is even used in schools. See COLOSSUS for more info. -

First McDonalds made
The first McDonald's was built in 1940 by the McDonald brothers (Dick and Mac). McDonalds was the first fast food restraunt made in the United States and made a new revolution on food. Now, thanks to the Baby Boom making fast food popular, anyone could find a fast food restraunt around almost every corner. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan did a suprise attack on Pearl Harbor in order to prevent the US from interfering with Japans invasion plans. Around 2000 americans were killed bringing America into WWII. This was the first time any American base was bombed on their own land and FDR even made a speach on the raideo about it. -
GI Bill of Rights
Also known as Serviceman’s Readjustment Act of 1944, service men were allowed education and training, loan guarantee for homes, farms, or businesses, & unemployment pay. This Bill is still around today but it has also added a new part were people from the service can get any kind of medical treatment they need when they return from the war. President Roosevelt initially proposed this bill but it was passed when Harry Truman became president. -

COLOSSUS (the first giant computer)
Colossus was the world's first electronic, digital, programmable computer. Colossus and its successors were used by British codebreakers to help read encrypted German messages during World War II. Frisbee
Fred Morrison was awarded a patent for the flying disc he made called the frisbee. Morrison received over one million dollars in royalties for this invention. Ed Headrick's frisbee with its band of raised ridges called the Rings of Headrick had stablized flight as opposed to the wobbly flight of its predecessor the Pluto Platter. -

It was reasearched in the early 1960's and tested thru out the 70's and 80's until it was commercialized to the public in 1995. Now it's used by people all over the world for many different things, from talking to someone half way around the world to looking for information for a research paper. -
