    In 1492 Christopher Columbus, during his first voyage, discovered America. History has stated that even though Columbus was not the first person to discovery America, he was the first to make contact with the people that inhabited the land. During this inaugurating period, Columbus spread European exploration, conquest, and colonization that lasted for serveral years. Columbus also spread the Christian religion to this "New World".
