End of World War 2
In the end of world war two many Africans-Americans came back from the war and expected equal treatment from the whites but all they received was disappointment. It started with segregation where all the black Americans had to follow a set of rules given to them by the white Americans and if they didn’t do that they would have to suffer severe punishment. -
Blacks Vs the Board of Education
During 1951 in virigina all the black students protest against the inequality in the states segregated education system. All the members of NAACP joined and started supporting the students from Moton high school against the Jim Crow laws of school segregation. On May 17, 1954 the U.S. Supreme Court decided that the education system for the blacks it was unfair as they did not receive all the benefits the whites received therefore the Blacks vs The Board of Education decided that the system was -
Bus Boycott
On December 1 1955 Rosa parks refused to give her seat to a white passenger and she was arrested fort that but she was soon bailed and she was a member of the NAACP. All the members decided that they would start taking action against the bus services and that all the blacks would not use the bus services which led to the bus boycott movement. This movement led to a lot of problems for all the bus services and many companies and cities suffered as well. -
Desecrating Little Rock Central High School
The little rock 9 was a group of nine students who had enrolled in the little rock central high school in 1957. When only 8 of them arrived because the ninth was not informed about it and had to face a lot of danger. She entered the school being the only black person around, she was harassed by all the whites and she was given military protection. They were African – Americans and they were not treated nicely. -
I have a Dream speach by Mathur Luther King
On August 28, 1963 an African – American civil right activist was giving one of the most famous speeches ‘I have a dream’. This was because he wanted to call for the end of racism in the United States. There were approximately 250,000 civil right activists at the steps of the Lincoln memorial. This had a very big impact on all the people. -
Mississippi Summer and Civil Right Act
The Mississippi summer project was a campaign in the united states in June 1964 to make sure there were as many as African – Americans voters as possible in Mississippi because most of them were scared to vote. There were three boys who were in Mississippi to make sure that all the voting went well and all the blacks had the right to vote. Unfortunately they were killed by the Ku Klux Klan because they despised the Jews and Negros. -
King Riots
The king assassination riots, also called holy week uprising was on the April 4 1968. It was civil disturbance which shocked the United States. It took place in Washington D.C., Baltimore, Louisville, Kansas city and Chicago. Martian Luther king was a beloved leader in the civil right movement. He had a major impact on the people and they were agitated because of his death. -
Formation of the Black Panthers
The Black Panther was a group of black revolutionary socialist also called the BPP (Black Panther Party). It was founded in Oakland, California by Huey Newton and Bobby Scale on October 15 1966. Their aim was to protect all the black neighbors form the police brutality. They had many marches in order to stop the violence in the community against the whites. -
Bashing of rodey king
Rodney Glen King was African- American who was born in California in 1965 he was a construction worker, who was beaten by the Los Angeles police officers followed by a high – speed car chase on march 3 1991. He was beaten ruthlessly with no mercy by 5 officers the others stood and watched him without taking any action and it was because of the robbery he had done. Barack Obama becomes the President
With time even things started making a change in America on the 4th of November 2008 a black American became the president of America. Through a lot of struggle at school as well as college getting scholarship he was successful to reach his goals and the was the first American – African president of the Harvard law review. He contributed a lot to the community and made his way to being the 44th president of America.
