  • The French and Indian War begins

    The French and Indian war was fought by the British colonies in North America against the French and their alliances. In the beggining, the main focus was obtaining the Ohio River Valley.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act of 1764 was when the British parliament enforced taxes on sugar, molasses and some other products imported to America. The purpose of taxing these products was the try to gain revenue for the government.
  • Stamp Act passed

    The British Parliament wanted to gain revenue and use it towards the soldiers, so the imposed taxes through the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act appplied to print materials or use papers.
  • The Townshend Acts

    In attempt to raise more money and gain revenue, the British Parliament kept imposing new taxes, known as the Townshend Acts. These acts angered the colonists which le o protests and boycotts.
  • The Boston Massacre

    Most of the protests took place in Boston, so soldiers stationed in Boston. The Boston Massacre started when a group of protesters attacked the soldiers, causing the soldiers to open fire on civillians.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act, imposed by British Parliament, granted control over the tea trade in the Americas to the British East India company. The tea act was meant to help this company escape debt, and stop the tea from being smuggled.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest lead by the Sons of liberty. The purpose was for the 13 colonies to protest against the British taxes and policies against the colonies.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    Since the Boston Tea party angered the British parliament, they passed many new acts, known as the Intolerable Acts. These acs served as consequences for the protests and riots.
  • Lexington and Concord

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord was the first armed conflict between British and America. The British marched to Lexington, Concord to destroy military supplies.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Following the British surrender at Yorktown, they realized they wouldn't be victorious. In attempt to create peace, the Treaty of Paris was created. This treaty stated that the British accepted their defeat.
  • The Bill of Rights

    Some states dissagreed with the constitution, they voted to change it, but the constitution was still amended. This change was known as the Bill of rights, which is basically the first 10 amendments of the constitution.
  • Whiskey Rebellion

    To repay the American debt, Te federal government imposed a whiskey tax. Not long after the tax was imposed, protests took place and many people refused to pay the tax. The protests took place in all of Pennsylvannia and spread.
