    Amelia Earhart was born on July 24th 1897, on a Saturday. On July 2nd, 1937 on a Tuesday Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan disappeared over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to fly around the world.

    On December 25th, 1920 Earhart was at Long Beach, California with her father. At that moment an air show was taking place, she was fascinated by the tricks that were being done. Just three days after the air show, she and her father went to Rogers Field where Amelia went on her first plane ride. From then on she had a goal to become a pilot.

After she took this trip with Wilmer Stultz she suddenly became a hero because they thought that she was really brave. After this she became well known and even gave speeches, designed clothes, and was an editor for the Cosmopolitan magazine.

    On March 17, 1937 Amelia with her two navigators left Oakland, California and arrived in Honolulu around 16 hours later. The first part of the trip was great but when they were leaving there was an accident. Since there was a delay to fix the plane one navigator couldn't go, Fred Norman then had to go. And because of weather patterns their flight course had to change to West to East.

    On July 2, 1937 Earhart and Noonanhad to land on a small Island named Howland that was hard to spot, to help them a coast guard ship was sent there to send a signal. At around 7:42 am the radio men got a message from Earhart, "We must be on you but cannot see you and gas is running low. Been unable to reach you by radio." And at 8:45 am another message , "We are running North and South." She was searching for the Island but could not find it, this was the last we heard from her.

    Because Amelia Earhart has been lost we are still trying to find her. Some people think she may have landed on an Island and lived with the natives there for quite some time.
