Amy and Edwin divorce. He has had such a negative impact on his daughters' lives. From the start, Amy's parents could tell he was not going to be good for their daughter, but Amy didn't listen. -

Amelia gets invited to be the first women aviator to fly transatlantic. Charles Lindbergh had recently been the firs male aviator, and thanks to their resemblance, Amelia was nicknamed Lady Lindy.

Amelia enters in a race for women aviators. Because it was for females, it earned the name Powder Puff Derby. Even though the women didn't appreciate that, the name stuck.

Amelia and the surviving women of the Powder Puff Derbydecided to create a women's aviation organization. The title, Ninety-Nines, comes from the amount of wome signed up for the race.

Amelia is such a great flier, she managd to earn two records on this day. That was really lucky, not everyone can do that.

Even though Amelia was never close with her father, I'm pretty sure this still hurt her. On this day, Edwin died. His health had been declining rapidly. Not too long before his death, Amelia had flown out to visit him. This must have broken her heart. The photo is a family photo, taken before he died.

After many months of asking, Amelia finally accepted Putnams offer. She and he married in Conneticut. It was a quit little wedding because the public wasn't alerted.

Amelia had finished her first book, but now here is a second one. The first one was called "20 Hrs., 40 Min.: Our Flight in The Friendship", published in 1928. Her second, "The Fun of It", was (obviously) published in 1932.

Amelia happens to be in England, and she manages to have a passport with the wrong birthdate on it. Are you kidding me? She was lying about her age? It appears so. As a birthday card once said, " The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age." The only part that doesn't make sense is honesty and lying crossing paths.

It's Amelia's 39th birthday. One major gift was her new Electra being ready to fly in. If i was an aviator, that would be the perfect birthdday gift.

Amelia has earned some cash. She then decides to send her mom on a reward trip, for being supportive and not giving up on her. So Amy is shipped off to Europe for a reward.

Well, time for another trip. One more race. Amelia has entered the Bendix Air Race. It must feel good to her, to be back in the air, doing what she loves. I think it gave her a sense of surrene.

She will be the first aviator in history to do a multi-timezone around-the-world trip! She had told her friend she has one good trip left in her, and this is to be it.

Amelia is in the Bendix Air Race and happens to fly over the Golden Gate Bridge, hence the title: Gold, Gold, Gold! That brisge is world famous, and Amelia got to see it from the air! That's so cool!

In Karachi,India, Amelia is feeling a little restless. She then recieves a call from Putnam, which made her very happy and calm. She was more relaxed, and the call had comforted her. I know if I were married and on one of those trips, I would definitely feel much better after a call like that.
