Her father helps her cope with blindness by buying her Jules Verne adventure novel written in braille which is a form for blind people. He built a wooden replica of the neighborhood so she can learn to navigate herself. While Werner discovers a broken radio trying to fix it his fate was to go to a Nazi school in Schulpforta.

Werner makes a friend named Frederick who sticks with him and a Nazi sergeant named Reinhold Von Rumpel that goes to look for gems but then changes his mind to find the legendary diamond.

Later Marie found out her dad not arriving in Paris which shut her. No sign of him for now.

After some tests Werner was able to track down the radio broadcast from certain noises he has heard before. When Werner was doing some scanning he picked up a signal leading to the house of Marie's uncles house. Von had few weeks to live and Marie was informed allied troops were coming she then meets Von Rumpel and from there locks herself up in the grotto. Her uncle went to look for her.

The alarm siren went off and Marie and Werner prepared for it both split up and went there separate ways to hide which was a little risky for her

    Continuing when Saint-Malo was hit by bombs the place Werner went to go hide which was in a basement was hit by a bomb. Werner was knocked out and injured his head and had lost his hearing for a while. Luckily his fellow soldier partners were still alive while Marie had notice as well she had to take cover only hope was to navigate her self with knowledge of the house to take shelter. Other things were impacted which buildings were falling apart people were getting hurt some were dead.

    Von Rumpel found out were Marie's uncle lives after the bombing has stopped he went for the abandoned city go to her uncles house. They were trapped underneath the hotel Werner was trying to find a way out of there one only way was to throw a grenades but that will kill them him and his friend they tried fixing the radio to communicate. Marie was busy doing her thing looking if there was food or anything good which she did and found a safe place to eat someone enters the house.

Von Rumpel sees wooden model of Saint-Malo and is thinking the diamond is hidden inside sadly Bernd dies and his last words were about his beloved father.

    Marie as she continued to do something like make a noise so whoever is actually in the house could think is outside so she can open her can up. For Von Rumpel is becoming a little hard for him since he is sick and goes down the stairs to investigate who is home while she makes her way to the attic to get water. After being there she broadcast herself on the radio so someone will here her and help her Which Werner did hear her but could not help at all from there the broadcast ends.
