Albert went to elementary school in 1918. He was taught by an outstanding German teacher called Lois Germain. This teacher helped him earn a scholarship to Algiers Lyceé (high-school) in 1923.

At the age of 17 he was diagnosed with Tuberculosis. This caused him to be very alone and isolated.

Albert Camus married Simone Hie on June 16 of 1934. He married her to help with her addiction. She was addicted to morphine because it helped ease her menstrual pains. He did eventually find out that she was in a relationship with her doctor at the same time they were married. They lasted two years and had no children together.
